The process
The i-FAB production system assembles to order according to the quantity required by the market. Players have to produce a certain number of finished products along an assembly line within a certain time frame, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality.
Since this is a simulation of a production system, the product will not actually be sold but will subsequently be disassembled by another group of players along a disassembly line. They have to re-supply the components within a predefined time interval, maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality.
Experiencing these two stages of production gives i-FAB players the opportunity to perceive the importance of the value chain and to understand the value of teamwork, collaboration and communication along a production process.
Assembly and disassembly take place by means of a mobile trolley that facilitates handling : the product passes through several assembly stations with the transfer pace dictated by the operators whose target is the takt time required by the market.
At each assembly and disassembly station, various operations are carried out, starting with the construction of the product frame, through to the assembly of the accessories and delivery to quality control, and then on to the disassembly of the accessories, until the mobile assembly trolley is completely emptied and delivered back to the first assembly station.
The number of players within the i-FAB production process can be variable but cannot be more than 15.
